Forensic intelligence models: assessment of current practices in the United States and internationally

Modern law enforcement is transitioning from reactive policing to proactive, intelligenceled, and data-driven policing to increase efficiency, transparency, public trust, and publicsafety. This document summarizes NIJ’s Forensic Intelligence Framework Initiative, a projectin which subject matter experts examined the implementation of forensic intelligencemodels that support law enforcement operations and modernization efforts to informthe development of a forensic intelligence framework. It also provides an overview ofconsiderations for implementing forensic intelligence activities, such as organizational structure, key partnerships, enhanced communications, and the development of resources.
